How do I locate Matlab?

Matlab is a commercial product that you must purchase from Mathworks, the company which produces and sells Matlab. Mathworks is a very helpful company that not only sells Matlab and additional packages, but also provides some free libraries and even holds conferences on the subject (one of which your truly attended). However, the product is somewhat pricy. You can find specific distribution information from the Mathworks Pricing site.

Once you purchase and install Matlab, you should be able to open it with the click of a mouse. The newer versions, which exist for Mac, Windows, and UNIX, are GUI-driven. Thus, for instance, if you are using Matlab for Windows 95, you simply have to select Matlab in the Start/Programs Menu. In UNIX, you need to type "matlab" on the command prompt (and hope you are either at a UNIX workstation or have a good emulator program). On the Macintosh . . . you'd better reduce the amount of psychedelic drug intake if you still own one!
